Ann-Marie Gabel, CPA

Ann-Marie Gabel, CPAAnn-Marie Gabel is the vice chancellor of business services at South Orange County Community College District (SOCCCD), where she oversees all district business departments including fiscal services, accounting, payroll, facilities planning and purchasing, and warehouse and mailroom services. She provides leadership for all partnership negotiations related to the Advanced Technology and Education Park, and chairs the district’s committees responsible for developing procedures for the allocation of general fund resources and reviewing board policies and administrative regulations.

Previously, Ms. Gabel was the executive vice president of finance, facilities, and technology services at Long Beach City College (LBCC), where she started in 2007 as the vice president of administrative services. During her tenure at LBCC she also held the positions of interim vice president of student support services and acting superintendent-president. Previously, she worked in the fiscal departments at Rancho Santiago Community College District and North Orange County Community College District. Ms. Gabel, a certified public accountant, started her career as an auditor with Vicenti, Lloyd & Stutzman, LLP (currently known as Clifton Larsen Allen), where she worked with several community colleges and K-12 districts.

Ms. Gabel is active in several state and local organizations in support of community colleges. She is a board member of two joint powers authorities: the Statewide Association of Community Colleges, which is responsible for property and liability, and the Protected Insurance Program for Schools and Community Colleges, which oversees workers’ compensation insurance claims. She is also the president-elect for the Association of Chief Business Officials, and is the chair of that organization’s Facilities Taskforce and co-chair of the state chancellor’s Advisory Workgroup on Fiscal Affairs.

Ms. Gabel earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from California State University, Fullerton, and a master’s degree in educational management from the University of LaVerne.

Kim McCordKim McCord

Kim joined the South Orange County Community College District in 2012 as the Executive Director of Fiscal Services/Comptroller where she oversees accounting, payroll, risk management and benefits departments. She serves on the State Fiscal Standards and Accountability Committee representing Southern California multi-college districts. She also serves on two Redevelopment Authority Successor Agency oversight boards. She chairs the District’s Retirement Board of Authority which oversees the retiree health benefit trust.

Previously, Kim worked at Merced College as the foundation accountant and was ultimately promoted to the fiscal director. In 2000, Kim moved to southern California after accepting the position of Administrative Director of Fiscal Affairs for the Coast Community College District where she managed payroll, accounting, and purchasing.

Kim holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of Utah.

Brandye K. D’Lena

Brandye D'LenaBrandye K. D’Lena, Executive Director, Facilities Planning, has been with South Orange County Community College District since 2007. She is responsible for the facilities planning programs of the District, including development of the District's 5-Year Construction Plan.

Brandye oversees planning and administration of all new construction projects. She also provides strategic support to the vice chancellor. Brandye has over 13 years experience in school facilities and construction, most recently serving as Director of Facilities and Construction for the Modesto City Schools. She also worked as a senior project manager at Vanir Construction Management, Inc. in San Luis Obispo, San Jose and Sacramento.

Brandye holds a B.S. in construction management from Cal Poly—San Luis Obispo. She is certified by the Construction Management Association of America (CMAA), was a LEED™ accredited professional and a member of Sigma Lambda Chi, the honor society for construction management.

Brandye D'LenaPriya Jerome

Priya Jerome joined the South Orange Community College District in 2018 as the Executive Director of Procurement, Central Services and Risk Management, overseeing the district’s purchasing, contracting, central services, and risk management programs. She has over 18 years of private and public sector experience in managing and administering complex supply chain activities globally. In the past eight years, Priya worked at Southwestern Community College District as the Director of Procurement, Central Services and Risk Management, where she implemented several procurement and contracting systems, drove lean processes, and focused on fostering a customer centered service culture. Priya holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Queensland Institute of Technology, Brisbane, Australia.

James SttevesJames Steeves

James Steeves joined the South Orange County Community College District in 2018 as the Central Service Manager. As Central Services Manager, he is responsible for programs and operations including off-campus purchasing, receiving, warehouse, mailroom and courier operations at Saddleback Community College and Irvine Valley Community College.

Prior to coming to the District, James was the Warehouse Operations Manager for Captek Softgel, a nutraceutical company located in Cerritos, where he oversaw all functions related to shipping, receiving and inventory control of a 250,000 square foot warehouse. James has over 25 years of experience in the private sector with extensive knowledge and experience in operations and warehouse management in the retail and wholesale industries.

James holds a Masters of Business Administration Degree from Pepperdine University and a Bachelor’s Degree from California State University Fullerton.

 

Rosie Aguilar

Rosie Aguilar, Payroll and Benefits Processing Manager, joined the District in 2013.  She oversees seven payroll staff that process earnings for 3,300 employees.  Rosie has over 20 years of experience in payroll, taxes, benefits, public sector compliance and time and attendance.  She is the Ambassador and Membership Director for California Association of School Business Officials (CASBO) for the Eastern Section, Past Payroll Chair for the CASBO Eastern Section Professional Council, and a member of the Southern California Community College Payroll Group, American Payroll Association (APA), and Orange County Department of Education Payroll Advisory Group.  Rosie earned her Certified Payroll Professional Certification from the American Payroll Association and stays current on payroll, retirement and legislative regulations.  Her prior experience includes payroll positions at Orange County Department of Education, Newport Mesa Unified School District and Coast Community College District.
