During the week before the Spring 2023 semester begins, faculty and staff will gather to continue important conversations about DEIA and Guided Pathways efforts and ensuring a safe, healthy, and caring campus community. We will augment our collective knowledge in pedagogy and technology for effective teaching and offer opportunities to be an active participant in campus communities of practice in course and classroom design. This spring professional development week also highlights the important topic of health and wellness, including opioid awareness and overdose prevention. Also highlighted will be the seminal work of faculty in meeting the latest legal challenges faced by students, including the DACA Program and new curricula and pathways in Cannabis Law. New faculty will share their teaching transformation in the session “The Ghana Homecoming Journey.” There will be sessions involving student codes of conduct, academic integrity, and best technology practices as they relate to securing valuable and sensitive digital information. At the conclusion of professional development week, we will have the highly anticipated student panel focused on navigating a hybrid world, facing learning challenges, and sharing unique student support needs.
IVC’s Spring 2023 Professional Development week will formally kick off on Tuesday, January 10 with the hybrid President’s Opening Session at 2 pm.
