The South Orange County Community College District (SOCCCD) is proud to announce the appointment of Lisa Bartlett as the new Trustee representing Area 3. As a lifelong public servant, Bartlett brings a wealth of experience and a strong commitment to education, community development, and public service to her new role.
Bartlett’s distinguished career includes serving as the Mayor of Dana Point and two terms on the Orange County Board of Supervisors, where she represented the Fifth District. During her tenure, she championed initiatives focused on economic development, transportation, and housing, and was a tireless advocate for the needs of her constituents. Her leadership experience will provide valuable insights as SOCCCD continues its mission to serve students and the broader community.
“I am honored to join the South Orange County Community College District Board of Trustees,” said Bartlett. “Education is the foundation for opportunity and growth, and I look forward to working with my fellow trustees, Chancellor Barnes, and the incredible teams at Saddleback College, Irvine Valley College, and ATEP to ensure we continue delivering world-class education to our students.”
Chancellor Julianna M. Asperin Barnes welcomed Bartlett’s election, stating, “Lisa Bartlett’s proven leadership and dedication to public service will be invaluable to our district. Her deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities in our region aligns perfectly with our vision of transforming lives through education.”
In addition to welcoming Trustee Bartlett, the South Orange County Community College District is proud to announce the re-election of three dedicated members of its Board of Trustees: Timothy Jemal (Area 7), Ryan Dack (Area 6), and Carolyn Inmon (Area 1). These esteemed leaders bring a wealth of experience, vision, and commitment to advancing the district’s mission of providing accessible, innovative, and high-quality education to the community. Their continued service ensures strong governance and advocacy for student success, workforce development, and community engagement.
Following the swearing-in ceremony on Monday evening was the board organization meeting. The Board of Trustees has elected Carolyn Inmon as President, Ryan Dack as Vice President, and T.J. Prendergast as Clerk. This leadership team reflects a renewed focus on advancing the district’s goals of equity, innovation, and student success.
“I am honored to serve as Board President during this exciting time for SOCCCD,” said Trustee Carolyn Inmon. “Together with our outstanding trustees and district leadership, we will continue to build on our achievements and champion the success of our students and communities.”
SOCCCD is excited to welcome Trustee Bartlett to the Board and looks forward to the new leadership’s contributions in shaping the district’s future.
