TUSTIN, CA— The South Orange County Community College District (SOCCCD) is thrilled to announce the upcoming development of a major new project in the Advanced Technology & Education Park (ATEP). Taiwanese-based Advantech, a global leader in Internet of Things (IoT) solutions, will break ground in October on a significant expansion that includes a state-of-the-art six-story office tower and a two-story industrial facility.
The new development will feature a 110,000-square-foot, six-story office tower, alongside a 79,000-square-foot, two-story industrial concrete tilt-up building. Set on 10 acres at the intersection of Red Hill Avenue and Victory Loop in Tustin on the site of the former marine helicopter base, the project is poised to become one of the most high-profile construction endeavors in Orange County in recent years. An indoor amphitheater is also planned as part of the development.
“Advantech’s new headquarters represents a major milestone for the South Orange County Community College District and the Advanced Technology & Education Park,” said Timothy Jemal, President of the SOCCCD Board of Trustees. “This project not only highlights our commitment to develop ATEP as a premier public-private partnership campus but also underscores our dedication to providing valuable educational and career opportunities for our students.”
The groundbreaking ceremony is expected to occur in October with the project anticipated to be completed by mid-2025. Advantech’s new facilities will accommodate approximately 400 employees and will include a 74,396-square-foot research and development area dedicated to advancing computer technologies.
Dr. Julianna M. Asperin Barnes, Chancellor of SOCCCD, added, “We are excited to welcome Advantech to our community. Their investment in ATEP aligns with our mission to support innovation and education in STEM fields. The partnership will also enhance our educational programs by providing our students with invaluable career coaching, internships, and job placements.”
In addition to expanding its operations, Advantech will contribute to the district’s educational initiatives through various forms of support, including scholarships, career mentoring, and shared use of facilities and equipment. This collaboration represents a significant step forward in bridging the gap between education and industry.
